Goaltender Ivan Fedotov mixed up the goal in his debut match for Philadelphia in the NHL
Russian goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov made his debut for the Philadelphia Flyers club in the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.
The goalkeeper first took to the ice as part of his new team in the second period of the regular season game with the New York Islanders. In regulation time he missed two goals.
Before the start of overtime, Fedotov mixed up the goal: he remained in the same place where he stood earlier, but according to the rules he had to change with his opponent. The goalkeeper of the opposing team, compatriot Semyon Varlamov, approached him and pointed to the gate opposite. As a result, the meeting ended in overtime with a score of 4:3 in favor of the Islanders.
Philadelphia introduced Fedotov on March 29. On March 28, the management of CSKA Moscow terminated the contract with Fedotov, who served in the army a year earlier.
In the summer of 2022, Fedotov’s attempt to move to Philadelphia failed. The Russian was supposed to go to the United States, but he was detained on suspicion of evading military service. After this, the athlete served a year in the Navy.
