Daniel Alves’ wife, Joana Sanz, published this Monday a photo holding hands with her husband after he paid a bail of 1 million euros (more than R$5 million) and left prison in Spain.
The Spanish model posted the image on her social networks. She has not yet spoken publicly about the sexual assault case, for which her husband was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
She even indicated the end of her relationship with the former player, in March last year, but got back together with Daniel Alves shortly afterwards. She said she was suffering from the process the Brazilian was going through, but she didn’t want to leave him aside in a “difficult moment”. They got married in 2017.
Joana Sanz even testified in favor of her husband on the second day of the trial. She said that Dani went out to dinner with some friends and returned home in the early hours of the morning, drunk.
The 40-year-old former athlete has been imprisoned in Barcelona since January 2023. He was convicted of sexually assaulting a young woman on December 30, 2022 in a local nightclub called Sutton.
Sentenced to four and a half years in detention, Daniel Alves is on provisional release after paying million-dollar bail. The former full-back’s defense appealed and is preparing resources to try to reduce the sentence sentenced in Spain in the first instance.
