The KHL fined SKA 500 thousand rubles for criticizing the referees by the head of the club Medvedev
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) punished SKA for criticizing the referees by the chairman of the board of directors of the St. Petersburg club, Alexander Medvedev. This was reported in the tournament’s Telegram channel.
“In accordance with paragraph 39 of Art. 30 of the KHL Disciplinary Regulations for violation of paragraphs. 1.24 clause 1 art. 55 of the KHL Sports Regulations, a fine is imposed on the club,” the statement said. As follows from the document, SKA was ordered to pay 500 thousand rubles.
Earlier, Medvedev drew attention to several episodes in the matches of the second round of the KHL playoffs with Ekaterinburg Avtomobilist, which, in his opinion, were interpreted in favor of the opponent. He demanded an answer from the judges, calling the incident discrimination.
On March 25, SKA was eliminated in the second round of the Gagarin Cup, losing the series to Avtomobilist with a score of 1-4. The last meeting ended in victory for the Ekaterinburg team with a score of 5:4.
