Luis Enrique highlights PSG after Beraldo’s expulsion: “I’m very proud”

Despite having had ten players on the field since the end of the first half with the expulsion of Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo, Paris Saint-Germain won Olympique de Marseille 2-0 this Sunday (31), at the Vélodrome stadium, in the game that closed the 27th round of the French Championship.

With the victory, the Parisian team takes another step towards the title, maintaining a 12 point advantage over second-place Brest, who earlier beat Lorient 1-0.

“I’m very proud of the second half, of the solidarity and attitude of the players”, celebrated Paris coach Luis Enrique after the match. “It’s a classic and it’s important for the fans,” he added.

With 0-0 on the scoreboard, everything seemed to get complicated for PSG when Beraldo received a red card just before half-time (40′), after killing a counterattack by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a free kick.

But in the second half, despite the numerical inferiority, goals from the Portuguese Vitinha (53′) and Gonçalo Ramos (85) gave Paris the victory.

Olympique even found the net with Jordan Veretout, who would tie the score at 1-1, but the goal was disallowed due to Brazilian Luís Henrique being offside in the shot (58′).

Kylian Mbappé, starter and captain at PSG, played a discreet game and was replaced by Ramos 20 minutes after the break.

With the defeat, the Marseille team remains in seventh place and prolongs its bad moment in the season. The two derbies against PSG this season were catastrophic, as in the first round, in September, the Parisians defeated 4-0 at Parque dos Príncipes.
