Beraldo is sent off, but PSG wins classic against Olympique de Marseille for the French

O PSG won the classic against Olympique de Marseille this Sunday, 1-0, at the Vélodrome stadium, in the 27th round of the French Championship. Brazilian defender Beraldo, formerly of São Paulo, was sent off at the end of the first half. The only goal of the game was scored by Vitinha.

With another victory, PSG reached 62 points and remains calmly at the top of the competition. The team is 12 points behind second-placed Stade Brest.

Olympique de Marseille, seventh placed with 39 points, suffered their third consecutive defeat of the season. The team lost 2-0 to Stade Rennes last Sunday.

PSG returns to the field this Wednesday, for the semi-final of the French Cup, against Rennes. Marseille faces Lille, next Friday, in the French Championship.

The first half was marked by the expulsion of Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo. In the 40th minute, the defender fouled Aubameyang and, after a VAR review, the referee showed the PSG player a red card.

Even with one man less, PSG managed to open the scoring in the second half. After just eight minutes, Vitinha linked up with Dembelé and finished first time into the goalkeeper’s corner to score the leader’s first goal.

After the goal, Marseille threw themselves into the attack, as expected. The team even tied the duel, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

PSG extended the lead in the 40th minute. Gonçalo Ramos got in the goalkeeper’s face and hit to score the second goal and last goal for the visiting team in the match.
