Figure skater Bazarova said that doping in figure skating is effective
Three-time European Championship medalist in pairs figure skating Vera Bazarova revealed the effectiveness of doping in this sport. Her words are quoted by Sport Express.
According to the Russian woman, illegal drugs can increase endurance. “But for learning and performing new elements, I don’t think so. We have a technical sport, no matter how sharp and strong you are, you can’t jump without studying the technique,” said Bazarova.
In January 2024, Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva was disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules. Traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021. As a result, Valieva was stripped of her gold for winning the team tournament at the 2022 Olympics, as well as her Russian and European champion titles.
Bazarova, who competed in pair skating, took silver at the 2012 European Championships. In 2011 and 2014, she became the bronze medalist of the tournament.
