Kostya Tszyu about the first defeat of his son Tim Tszyu in his career: we will come back stronger

Former absolute world boxing champion Kostya Tszyu commented on the first defeat of his son, Tim Tszyu, in his career. His words are quoted by TASS.

“He [Тим] didn’t lose the fight, but didn’t win either. I hope that work will be done to understand why this happened. The cut greatly influenced the course of the battle; he didn’t see anything,” said Tszyu Sr. He noted that his son’s opponent, American Sebastian Fundora, wisely took advantage of the moment. “We will come back stronger,” concluded the former world champion.

The fight between Tszyu and Fundora took place on the night of March 31 and lasted all 12 rounds. The winner was determined by a split decision of the judges. Tszyu Jr. was unable to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior middleweight title for the second time and missed out on the opportunity to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) title.

Now 29-year-old Tszyu has 24 victories, 17 of which were won by knockout, with only one defeat. The 26-year-old Fundora has a record of 21 wins, losses and draws.
