The former coach of figure skaters Averbukh and Valieva, Natalya Dubinskaya, has died
Honored figure skating coach of Russia Natalya Dubinskaya died at the age of 74. Her son, coach Denis Samokhin, announced this on Instagram. (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).
Samokhin said that his mother passed away on the evening of March 30. He noted that for the last four years Dubinskaya has been struggling with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). “[Болезнь] took everything from her. Strength, energy, favorite work, the ability to move and breathe. She was never able to accept herself in this illness, which ate her up even more,” the coach wrote.
At different times, Dubinskaya worked with many titled Russian figure skaters. Irina Lobacheva and Ilya Averbukh, Elena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalapov, Kamila Valieva, Nikolai Morozov, Daniil Gleikhengauz and many others worked under her leadership.
