De Telegraaf: Spartak football player Quincy Promes was shaved bald in a prison in the UAE

Spartak Moscow forward Quincy Promes was transferred to Al Awir prison in the UAE. The Championship reports on the conditions of detention of prisoners with reference to De Telegraaf.

As the source learned, in accordance with prison rules, Promes was shaved bald. At the same time, prisoners are not allowed to grow their hair; this is punishable by a ban on making calls and watching TV.

It is also reported that the football player is being held in a cell designed for six people. “In addition to the six “lucky” ones who have their own place on a bunk bed, another 10 to 20 prisoners sleep on the floor of the cell,” the commentary notes.

Earlier it became known that Russia requested the extradition of the attacker from the UAE. The legionnaire is accused of tax fraud – he owes the Federal Tax Service of Russia almost 400 thousand rubles.

On February 29, the football player was detained at border control at Dubai airport for getting into an accident and leaving the scene. Two weeks later, Promes was arrested at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office for possible further extradition.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
