De Telegraaf: Russia has requested the extradition of Spartak legionnaire Promes from the UAE
Russia has requested the extradition of Spartak Moscow striker Quincy Promes from the UAE. This was reported by “Championship” with reference to De Telegraaf.
“Quincy Promes said in prison that he hoped to be extradited from Dubai to Russia in order to temporarily avoid a sentence in the Netherlands,” the report says. It is noted that in Russia the legionnaire is accused of tax fraud.
Earlier it became known that Promes owed the Federal Tax Service of Russia almost 400 thousand rubles. Lawyer Tatyana Zavyalova explained that the player is more likely to be extradited to the Netherlands, since he is a citizen of this country.
On February 29, the football player was detained at border control at Dubai airport for getting into an accident and leaving the scene. Two weeks later, Promes was arrested at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office for possible further extradition.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
