Leicester City confirmed the dismissal of coach Willie Kirk accused of having a relationship with one of his athletes. The commander had been away from the activities of the female squad since March 8 for an internal investigation.
Through an official note published on its website, the English club informed the decision to dismiss the professional and stated that the coach violated the team’s code of conduct to a point that makes his “position unsustainable”.
“Following an extensive internal disciplinary process and respecting the club’s obligations to individual privacy, Willie was determined to have violated the team’s code of conduct to an extent that makes his position untenable,” the statement reads.
Furthermore, Leicester announced the interim stay of assistant Jennifer Foster, supported by Stephen Kirby, while the club begins the search process for a new permanent commander.
The decision to initially remove Willie Kirk was taken after vehicles such as The Guardian and the The Telegraph news that the coach had a relationship with one of the players, whose name was not revealed. Therefore, the club chose to carry out an investigation before confirming the professional’s dismissal.
Ninth place in the women’s English Championship, Leicester is in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and now faces Tottenham in the search for a place in the tournament’s big decision. The match is scheduled for April 14th.
