Hockey player Fedotov will join the NHL Philadelphia Flyers during the season
Russian goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov will leave for the National Hockey League (NHL) after terminating his contract with CSKA Moscow. The Athletic has learned this.
According to the source, the hockey player will join the Philadelphia Flyers during the current season. It is noted that there are no longer any obstacles to the transition.
Earlier on March 28, the management of CSKA terminated the contract with Fedotov, who served in the army a year earlier. CSKA clarified that the sports rights to the athlete in Russia are still retained by the club.
On September 1, 2023, the International Hockey Federation fined the Russian Hockey Federation and Fedotov for taking part in Kontinental Hockey League matches with a valid contract with Philadelphia. In addition, because of this, CSKA was banned from conducting international transfers for a year.
Fedotov was supposed to leave for Philadelphia in 2022, but was detained on suspicion of evading military service. After this, the athlete was sent to serve in the Russian Navy.
