Russian mixed style (MMA) fighters Sergei Pavlovich and Alexander Volkov will fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). This was announced by the head of the promotion, Dana White, on the social network. X.
The tournament will take place in Saudi Arabia on June 22. The Russians’ fight will be the second most important. The tournament will be headlined by a fight between a native of Chechnya, representing the UAE, Khamzat Chimaev and ex-UFC champion from Australia Robert Whittaker.
The 31-year-old Pavlovich has 18 wins and two losses. In November, the fighter lost by knockout to Englishman Tom Aspinall within a minute in a fight for the interim UFC heavyweight title. Pavlovich is ranked third in the UFC heavyweight rankings.
35-year-old Volkov has 37 wins and 10 losses in MMA. In his last fight, he defeated Australian Tai Tuivas. Volkov is in sixth place in the UFC rankings among heavyweights.
