National team holder, Wendell is a target of Juventus for next season, says newspaper

A starter in the Brazilian team’s friendlies against England and Spain, Wendell would be in Juventus’ sights for next season. Today at Porto, the 30-year-old left-back has a contract with the Portuguese team until 2025.

The Italian club would have sent a scout to accompany Wendell in the match against England at Wembley, last Saturday, according to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. On that occasion, the player made his debut with the Seleção shirt, playing for 89 minutes in the 1-0 victory.

Against Spain, the full-back started once again and played the entire match.

Juventus is looking for a replacement for Alex Sandro, who is expected to leave the team at the end of the season. As Wendell’s contract with Porto runs until June 2025, the deal to send the player to Italy could be made easier, as he could sign a pre-contract with any other team and leave Portugal for free from January onwards.

Also according to the Italian newspaper, Reinildo, from Atlético de Madrid, and Maximilian Mittelstadt, from Stuttgart, are also on the Old Lady’s radar for the position.

Wendell arrived at Porto in January 2022, after spending seven years defending Bayer Leverkusen, from Germany. In Portugal, he played 97 games, scored seven goals and provided nine assists. He helped the club win a Portuguese Championship and two Portuguese Cups.
