President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Witold Banka, in a conversation with pranksters Vovan (Vladimir Kuznetsov) and Lexus (Aleksey Stolyarov), spoke about the participation of countries in the Friendship Games in Russia. His words are given in the pranksters’ Telegram channel.
Banka said that the participation of countries in the Friendship Games is a political issue. “I believe that federations should avoid participating, committees and countries should also avoid participating in this event. The idea of holding the Friendship Games is slightly contrary to the Olympic Games,” said the head of WADA.
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee called the Friendship Games a politicized event of the Russian government. The organization called on all participants in the Olympic movement to refuse to participate in the tournament.
The Friendship Games will be held in September 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg. The tournament will include competitions in 33 summer Olympic and non-Olympic sports.
