Poland secured their place in the European Championship after beating Wales, 5-4, on penalties, this Tuesday, in a play-off of the qualifiers for the competition. After a goalless draw for 120 minutes, Szczesny saved Wales’ last shot to qualify his team.
With the classification, the Polish team enters Group D of the Euro, along with France, Austria and the Netherlands. The debut in the competition takes place on June 16th, at 10 am (Brasília time) against the Netherlands. The second match is against Austria, on the 21st, and the last game of the group stage is against France, on the 25th.
Wales returns to the field against Slovakia, on June 9th, in a friendly, in Slovakia.

Ben Davies even opened the scoring for Wales in the first half, but the assistant noticed the defender’s irregular position and disallowed the goal. In the last minute of the second half of extra time, Chris Mepham received a second yellow card and left the Welsh team with one player less.
On penalties, Szczesny saved a shot from Daniel James, from Wales, and secured Poland in the European Championship. Poles Lewandowski, Szymánski, Frankowski, Zalewski and Piatek converted the penalties, while Ben Davies, Kieffer Moore, Harry Wilson and Neco Williams scored for Wales.
