Endrick shines at the Bernabéu, and Brazil snatches a draw from Spain in stoppage time

Brazil sought a draw against Spain, this Tuesday, at the Santiago Bernabéu, in a friendly that ended with a score of 3-3. In a busy game, the Seleção came out behind the scorer, leaving everything the same through Rodrygo and Endrick , but saw the Spanish score at the end of the match. In stoppage time, Paquetá converted from the penalty spot and tied the game, which had two controversial penalties in favor of the local team.

The match was marked by a series of actions to combat racism, with Real Madrid striker Vinícius Júnior as the central figure of the fight. The player was replaced by Douglas Luiz in the second half and left the field to applause from the fans.

With the result, Dorival Júnior ends his first FIFA Date at the head of the Seleção undefeated. He had a win and a draw in two games. Hired to replace Fernando Diniz, the former São Paulo coach is CBF’s big bet to lead the team in the Copa América, which starts in June, in the United States.

The Brazilian team now returns to the field in the friendly against Mexico, scheduled for June 8th. Next, the team faces the United States, on June 12, in a game that precedes their debut in the Copa América, against Costa Rica.

Spain, which was coming off a defeat to Colombia, will have one last test before competing in the European Championship. It will be against Andorra, in a duel scheduled for June 5th.

The game

The first ten minutes were dominated by Spain. The first opportunity came after four minutes, with the boy Lamine Yamal. He had the chance after Cucurella’s cross crossed the area and shot first time, with his left leg, but sent it over Bento’s goal.

At nine, Yamal blocked Brazil’s marking on the right side, cut Wendell, but was brought down by João Gomes inside the area. The referee did not hesitate and signaled the penalty. From the kick, Rodri hit the middle of the goal firmly and scored Spain’s first: 1-0.

The Brazilian team arrived in danger for the first time in the 15th minute. In a good individual play, Rodrygo invaded the area and rolled to Vini Júnior, who was coming from behind and shot weakly, into the hands of Unai Simón.

The Spaniards were scared again in the 17th minute. Nico Williams moved from the left to the middle and shot wide, but the ball scraped the post defended by Bento. Then, at 20, it was Fabián Ruiz’s turn to take a long shot, without success.

With extreme difficulty creating plays, Brazil was under pressure from Spain and saw the local team increase the score in the 35th minute, with Dani Olmo. The midfielder gave Beraldo a great shot, dribbled past Bruno Guimarães and finished with a left-footed shot, beating goalkeeper Bento.

Brazil managed to score two minutes later. Goalkeeper Unai Simón played the wrong way and left the ball at the feet of Rodrygo, who covered the Spanish archer and reduced the score. There was still time for Bento to save the Seleção at the end of the first half after a hit from Rodri.

Second time

Shortly after the break, it didn’t take long for Endrick’s star to shine. After four minutes, midfielder Andreas Pereira took a corner, Laporte headed it and saw the ball fall to the boy, who hit it with his left leg, first time, to tie the match.

Brazil almost turned it around after six minutes. Rodrygo made a great move on the right, with a right to Laporte, he pulled into the middle and finished, even without an angle, but stopped at Unai Simón.

In a busy second half, but with few clear chances to score, Spain regained the advantage at the end of the game. After Yamal’s three-finger throw, Carvajal was brought down by Beraldo inside the area and the referee awarded the penalty. Rodri took the shot well and scored the third. There was still time for Paquetá to leave everything equal with a penalty in extra time of the match.
