Pogacar wins his fourth stage in the Volta and takes the general classification with Mikel Landa second
He Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) was proclaimed winner of the Cycling Tour to Catalonia after winning the sprint this Sunday in the last stage held in Barcelona, the fourth in his personal account.
The Slovenian, who also won the regularity and mountain jerseys, is the first Volta rider to win four stages in a single edition since the Italian Mario Cipollini in 1998. He also achieved the greatest time advantage over the second in a seven-day race since 1986 and in the Catalan race since 1983.
In the traditional closing in Barcelona, with the six ascents to the Alt del Castell de Montjuïc, Pogacar gave space for his teammates Marc Soler and Joao Almeida They were looking for victory, but upon seeing them faltering, he launched himself for the sprint victory over the Frenchmen Dorian Gordon (Decathlon) and Guillaume Martin (Cofidis).
