After a goalless draw, Croatia beats Tunisia on penalties in a FIFA Series friendly

Croatia and Tunisia drew 0-0 this Saturday, in a friendly match in the FIFA Series. On penalties, the European team won 5-4. The match was held at the Cairo International Stadium, in Egypt.

FIFA Series are friendly matches played by teams from different confederations, who normally do not have the opportunity to face each other. The friendly tournament brings together four teams in one host country, in this case, Egypt.

With the result, Croatia will face Egypt next Tuesday in the final of the friendly competition.

The game

The first half was completely dominated by Croatia, but the team led by Zlatko Dalić was unable to transform this pressure into scoring opportunities.

Tunisia scored with Hamza Jelassi heading a free kick taken by Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane in the 33rd minute of the first half. However, after a VAR review, the offside was found and the goal was disallowed.

In the second half, Croatia continued to have plenty of possession and created some chances to open the score, but were unable to convert them and the game went to penalties.

In penalties, Croatia scored five of seven shots, while Tunisia converted four. Haddadi wasted the last penalty and guaranteed the victory for the Europeans.
