The Germany team got the better of France in a friendly played this Saturday in Lyon. With a beautiful lightning goal scored by Florian Wirtz, the visitors won again after five months and beat the French team 2-0. Kai Havertz completed the scoring.
Germany’s last victory was in the duel against the United States, 3-1, on October 14 last year. Since then, there have been three matches without a win – two defeats and a draw.
The friendly also marked the debut of midfielder Toni Kroos. The Real Madrid athlete came out of retirement from his country and returned to defend the national team before the European Championship.
The French team was in good shape. With Mbappé and company, the team came first in Group B of the Euro Qualifiers, with 22 points gained in eight games (seven wins and one draw).
Germany did not compete in the Qualifiers as it was the host country. The team led by Julian Nagelsmann returns to the field in a new friendly against the Netherlands. The duel is scheduled for next Tuesday, at 4:45 pm (Brasília time), in Frankfurt.
France, in turn, faces Chile on the same day, at 5pm, in Marseille, before making its debut in the group stage of the European Championship.
How was the game?
The first goal of the game came after just eight seconds. As the ball passed, Kroos passed it to Florian Wirtz, who sent it from distance and scored a great goal to open the scoring.
Despite German dominance, France had the first chance to equalize in the 21st minute. Mbappé received the ball in the area and shot firmly, but sent it out. The star took another risk at 24, but ter Stegen made a great save and avoided France’s goal.
With just three minutes of the final stage, Germany found the net again. This time, Wirtz launched Musiala, who dribbled past goalkeeper Samba and just rolled the ball to Kai Havertz, who only had the job of pushing it into the empty goal.
The French even tried to take advantage in the remainder of the second half, but saw the Germans completely dominate the match and almost increase their advantage on a few occasions.
