Newcastle reported on Thursday that defender Sven Botman suffered a knee ligament injury in the match against Manchester Cityplayed last Saturday, for the FA Cup.
The defender is expected to be out for around nine months and is unlikely to play again in 2024. Botman was substituted in the 38th minute of the second half and was not even called up by the dutch national team for friendlies against Scotland and Germany.
Sven Botman will undergo surgery next week after suffering a knee injury against Manchester City.
A scan has confirmed that he sustained an injury to his ACL and he is expected to return within 6-9 months.

He arrived at Newcastle in mid-2022, after two outstanding seasons at Lille, in France. The defender was even competed for by other English teams, such as Tottenham.
In the current season, Botman has two goals and two assists in 17 games for English Championship.
