Director Kusturica called the match between Russia and Serbia a historical moment of isolation of the Russian Federation

Serbian director and musician Emir Kusturica appreciated the friendly match between the Russian and Serbian national football teams that took place on March 21 in Moscow. His words are quoted by Channel Five.

The director who attended the match called it a historical moment of Russian isolation from Europe. “He will also be seen as something that Serbia does not think [о России]like others in Europe,” said Kusturica.

He explained the defeat of Serbia by saying that the team “never played well against Russia.” He considered that the referee should not have sent off Serbian defender Milan Gajic, and also noted the Russian team’s play as fast and with good combinations.

The match at VTB Arena ended with a score of 4:0. For the Russians, Anton Miranchuk scored a penalty, Maxim Osipenko, Alexey Miranchuk and Ivan Sergeev scored field goals. Before the first goal, Milan Gajic was sent off.

In 2020, Serbia defeated Russia with a score of 5:0 in the Nations League (UEFA’s official tournament).
