40-year-old Canadian becomes the oldest world figure skating champion

40-year-old figure skater Deanna Stellato-Dudek became the oldest world champion

Canadian figure skaters Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps became world champions in the pairs competition at a tournament in Montreal. The results are available on the website of the International Skating Union (ISU).

American journalist Philip Hersh on his social network page X wrote that Stellato-Dudek became the oldest world figure skating champion, winning the award at the age of 40. She surpassed the achievement of the Finnish Ludovica Jakobsson, who at the age of 38 won gold at the 1923 World Championships in pairs.

Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps scored a total of 221.56 points for their short and free programs. Japanese Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara are in second place with 217.88 points. Third place went to Minerva Fabinne Hase and Nikita Volodin from Germany with 210.40 points.

Stellato-Dudek had never won a world championship medal before in her career. She has won the 2024 Four Continents Championship.
