The bronze medal of the Russian team at the World Skyrunning Championships was canceled according to the recommendations of the IOC
The International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) has canceled the overall team result of the Russian team at the World Championships. This was reported on the website of the Russian Mountaineering Federation.
The ISF explained that they followed the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to prevent teams from Russia and Belarus from participating in international competitions. Thus, the bronze won by the Russian team went to Spain.
At the same time, the individual achievements of the Russians remained unchanged. Of the five domestic athletes, Anastasia Rubtsova showed the best result, taking fourth place. The World Cup took place from March 6 to 10 in Italy.
In December 2023, the IOC decided to admit Russians and Belarusians to the Olympics in Paris. They will be able to take part in the tournament as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 Games. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
