Svishchev advised Evloev, who was suspended from the Olympic Games for a photo with a poster, to sue
State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev appreciated the refusal of Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Musa Evloev to enter the qualifying tournament for the 2024 Games. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
The politician advised the athlete to sue. “To suspend an athlete for a photo with a poster is complete rudeness. I’ve never heard anything like this,” said Svishchev.
The President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR), Mikhail Mamiashvili, previously announced Evloev’s removal from Olympic qualification. According to him, this happened because of the photograph against the background of the “No to Nazism!” poster. According to SE, the poster had the inscription “For a world without Nazism.”
Last December, the IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Paris Olympics as individual neutral athletes. At the same time, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 Games. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
