The IOC approved the flag and anthem for neutral athletes from Russia and Belarus
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the flag and anthem under which Russians and Belarusians will be able to perform at the 2024 Games in Paris. James MacLeod, director of the department for relations with national Olympic committees of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), told TASS.
“The anthem has no text and was prepared exclusively for the Games in Paris,” he said. The flag is also deprived of its connection to Russia and Belarus.
MacLeod also stressed that Russians wishing to compete at the Games will not be forced to sign a document condemning the SVO in Ukraine. In addition, medals won by Russians and Belarusians will not appear in any IOC table.
Earlier, MacLeod announced that Russians and Belarusians would not be allowed to participate in the opening ceremony of the Games. He also noted that a maximum of 55 athletes from Russia will be able to qualify for the Olympic Games.
