Palestinian Football Association demands sanctions against Israel
The Palestinian Football Association has demanded that the International Football Federation (FIFA) impose sanctions against Israel. The text of the corresponding letter is provided by RIA Novosti.
The organization called for the immediate suspension of Israeli clubs and national teams from international tournaments. They also pointed out that the Israelis violated the FIFA statutes, which resulted in the inclusion of teams located in Palestine in their league.
In addition, Palestine accused the Israel Football Association of failing to take action against discrimination and racism. The letter also complained about the destruction of Palestine’s football infrastructure as a result of the fighting.
On February 18, a group of 13 members of the European Parliament called on FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to suspend Israeli clubs and national teams from competitions due to the conflict in the Gaza Strip. The authors of the initiative wrote an open letter to the organization.
