Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov broke his streak of 23 victories at the Russian Championship. This was reported by a Lenta.ru correspondent.

Bolshunov failed to win for the first time this season, finishing ninth in the classic time trial. He covered a distance of 10 kilometers in 24 minutes 35.4 seconds. The skier was 45.4 seconds behind the leader, Ermil Vokueva.

Bolshunov, 27, is a three-time champion of the 2022 Games in Beijing. He also has four silver and two bronze Olympic medals.

On October 25, 2023, the Council of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) extended sanctions against Russian athletes. For the first time, restrictions on the performance of Russians at international ski tournaments were imposed in March 2022.
