Obukhov advised Kamila Valieva to be closer to her family during her disqualification
Orenburg footballer Vladimir Obukhov, who was serving a disqualification for doping, gave advice to Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, who was suspended for four years. His words are quoted by Sport Express.
“I can only advise Kamila to continue working and be closer to her family while she has time,” Obukhov said.
The player also recalled his own feelings during the disqualification. “At such a difficult moment, you begin to rethink everything. But everyone has their own destiny, and everyone decides for themselves what to do next,” Obukhov added.
The football player was disqualified for doping for six months in 2021, and later his suspension was extended for another six months. It was established that he took the prohibited drug methandienone in 2013. The Russian admitted guilt.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport disqualified Valieva for four years. The period of suspension starts from the moment the positive doping test is taken – December 25, 2021. The fact that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in it became known after the end of the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games, where the Russian team won gold. As a result, the team was deprived of the victory.
