In the Netherlands, they said that the convicted Quincy Promes has stopped the flow of money
Dutch journalist for De Telegraaf John van den Heuvel spoke about the situation with the convicted Spartak legionnaire Quincy Promes. He discussed this on the Telegraafkwartier podcast.
Van den Heuvel said one of Promes’ main problems was not possible extradition, but the interruption of money flow due to lack of work. “He really wanted to play football in Russia for a few more years. For convenience, let’s assume that he receives 10 million euros a year there. He wanted to end his career and earn money. Now this door has slammed shut,” the journalist said, noting that the footballer’s property had been seized.
On March 13, Promes was arrested in Dubai at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office. It was noted that the detention was related to the possibility of further extradition of the football player to the country.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai Airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Later it was clarified that the football player would not be sentenced to prison in the UAE – he would be punished with a fine.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
