Skier Bolshunov won the sprint at the Russian Championships, winning for the 22nd time in a row
Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov won the freestyle sprint race at the Russian Championship. The results are available on the website of the Russian Ski Federation.
The victory was the athlete’s 22nd in a row in the 2023/2024 season. Bolshunov covered the distance in three minutes and 13.49 seconds. In second place was Ivan Gorbunov, 0.11 seconds behind the winner. Sergei Ustyugov came third with a lag of 0.96 seconds.
After the race, senior coach of the national team Yuri Borodavko said that Bolshunov missed almost a week of training due to illness. He emphasized that due to well-chosen tactics, the skier managed to win.
Bolshunov is a three-time Olympic champion at the 2022 Games in Beijing. He also has four silver and two bronze medals at the Olympics.
Russian skiers missed the season on the international stage due to sanctions imposed on them by the International Ski Federation (FIS).
