Spartak footballer Promes is being held at a Dubai police station near the airport
Spartak Moscow striker Quincy Promes, arrested in the UAE at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office, is being held in the Dubai police station complex near the airport. De Telegraaf reports this with reference to the institution.
According to the source, the area of the prison complex is one million square meters. It is noted that Promes is not being held in the Al-Awir prison, which has a section for detainees awaiting extradition.
On March 13, Promes was arrested in Dubai at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office. It was noted that the detention was related to the possibility of further extradition of the football player to the country.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai Airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Later it was clarified that the football player would not be sentenced to prison in the UAE – he would be punished with a fine.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
