Zagitova called the performance of five jumps something from the realm of science fiction
Olympic figure skating champion Alina Zagitova appreciated the possibility of performing five jumps. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The athlete called this element something from the realm of fantasy. “Many people thought that it was impossible to jump triples, so who knows. Maybe. In fact, this is very traumatic, but I think one of our men will definitely try,” Zagitova noted.
In May 2022, vice-world champion in figure skating Alena Leonova assessed the likelihood of athletes performing a five-jump. “From a technical point of view, I think it will be limited to quadruples. Will there be quintuples? In the near future, it seems to me not,” she shared.
Zagitova is the only single figure skater in the history of Russia who has won all the titles in world figure skating. She became the 2018 Olympic champion, world and European champion, and also the winner of the Grand Prix final. In 2019, the figure skater paused her career, focusing on her work as a TV presenter.
