Copa Libertadores 2022: Barcelona SC vs. Montevideo City Torque in Phase 1; and U. Católica could face Deportivo Lara or Bolívar in stage 2

The yellows and Quito residents already know their match schedule. Independiente del Valle and Emelec must wait for the draw to play in the group stage

Barcelona Sporting Club and U. Católica de Quito already know their future rivals in the early stages of the Copa Libertadores 2022. Ecuadorian teams will be the first clubs for our country to debut in the Ecuador tournament, while the national champion Independiente del Valle and vice-champion Emelec must wait for the round of 16 to start their competition.

The canaries, like Ecuador 4, will face Montevideo City Torque of Uruguay for Phase 1; For February 9 and 16, the round trip matches are scheduled, respectively.

Libertadores format

Phase 1 (6 teams)

1 team from Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. The first leg matches will be from February 8 to 10 and rematches from February 15 to 17.

Phase 2 (16 teams)

  • 2 squads from Brazil, Chile and Colombia; 1 from Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Plus 3 winners from phase 1. It will be played from February 22 to 24 and March 1 to 3.

Phase 3 (8 teams)

  • 8 winners of phase 2. Matches will be played from March 8 to 10 and from March 15 to 17.

32 teams They compete in the group stage (only the 8 leaders and their escorts advance to the eighth). The draw for the duels will be March 23.
