Ex-footballer Yakubko called striker Promes detained in Dubai a moron
Ex-footballer of the Slovak national team Martin Jakubko, who played in Russia for Dynamo and Khimki, called Spartak legionnaire Quincy Promes, detained in Dubai, a moron. His words are quoted by RB Sport.
“What a moron do you have to be to, knowing that you can be detained, get into an accident in the Emirates. I can’t even imagine what this person is thinking,” Yakubko said. He considered that if the attacker was sent to the Netherlands, then he could be given up.
Jakubko added that he feels sorry for Promes as a football player. “He is a very good player, but if all the accusations are true, you must be responsible for your behavior,” the Slovak noted.
On March 13, Promes was arrested in Dubai at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office. At home, he faces a total of 7.5 years in prison for attacking his brother and drug smuggling.
On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Later it was clarified that the football player would not be sentenced to prison in the UAE – he would be punished with a fine.
