Sports Minister Matytsin said that Russia should not boycott the 2024 Olympics
Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin assessed the likelihood of Russia boycotting the 2024 Olympic Games. His words are quoted by TASS.
“We should not turn away, close ourselves, or boycott this movement. We must preserve the possibility of dialogue as much as possible and compete,” Matytsin said. He noted that decisions on the participation of Russians in the Games will be made separately for each sport.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Sports and the Russian Olympic Committee to formulate proposals for the performance of Russian athletes in Paris. For each sports federation, the conditions for participation in the tournament must be determined.
Russians and Belarusians will be able to take part in the 2024 Olympics as individual neutral athletes by decision of the International Olympic Committee. However, athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, as well as those who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus, will miss the tournament. In addition, there will be no representatives of team sports in Paris.
