Tatyana Tarasova said that only a coach could have doped figure skater Valieva
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova named the person responsible for the discovery of doping in the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. She shared her opinion in the “Life and Fate” program on the Russia 1 TV channel.
“Not a single athlete will take any pill from the doctor’s hands. Only a trainer can give this pill! It can not be any other way!” – said Tarasova. She noted that nothing is done in sports without the participation of a coach.
On March 7, the Russian Ministry of Sports excluded Valieva from the national team. The figure skater said that she plans to perform in an ice show in China.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport disqualified Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The period of suspension is counted from the moment the sample was taken in which trimetazidine was found – December 25, 2021. The figure skater lost gold at the European Championships and the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games.
