Former head coach of the Russian national football team Stanislav Cherchesov has become a contender for the post of head coach of Spartak. This was reported by journalist Ivan Karpov in the Telegram channel “Insides from Karp”.

According to the source, on March 11, the chairman of the board of directors of Spartak, Alexander Matytsyn, will hold a meeting with Cherchesov. It is noted that the decision to resign the red-and-white head coach Guillermo Abascal has already been made.

Earlier, Karpov named another candidate to replace Abascal. He said that Spartak could buy out Serbian Vladimir Ivic, who heads Krasnodar.

On March 10, in the match of the 20th round of the Russian Premier League, Spartak was defeated by Fakel with a score of 0:2. The former president of the Moscow club, Andrei Chervichenko, called Abascal the reason for the team’s failures.
