Spartak spoke about the situation with the legionnaire detained in Dubai

Spartak expressed hope for the speedy return of Promes, who was detained in Dubai.

The head of the Spartak press service, Dmitry Zelenov, spoke about the situation with the club’s legionnaire Quincy Promes. His words are quoted by Match TV.

The team expressed hope for Promes’s early return. “It is wrong for us to prematurely comment on the details of this case when there is no complete clarity. Let’s wait until the situation is resolved – then we can talk about something,” Zelenov added.

On February 29, Promes was detained at border control at Dubai Airport for being involved in an accident and leaving the scene. Later it was clarified that the football player would not be sentenced to prison in the UAE – he would be punished with a fine. As a result, he will have to be able to return to Moscow.

On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison for drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison in his homeland for attacking his brother with a knife.
