Peskov said that Navka was worried and cried because of Kostomarov’s illness

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov spoke about the reaction of his wife Tatyana Navka to the illness of Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“Tanya was terribly worried, crying at home at night when it was not clear that he would recover,” Peskov said. He emphasized that he supported Navka and called the athletes outstanding personalities.

In December 2023, Kostomarov and Navka performed a joint performance on ice as part of Ilya Averbukh’s show “Together and Forever.” The skaters repeated a fragment of the free program “Carmen”, with which they won the 2006 Olympics in Turin.

In January 2023, Kostomarov was hospitalized with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to prolonged connection to a blood oxygenation machine and a ventilator, his tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire hand of his right hand and several fingers of his left. Later, he was fitted with prosthetic legs and right arm.
