Coach Fedorov said that CSKA did not show the level of the Gagarin Cup playoffs
CSKA Moscow head coach Sergei Fedorov explained the team’s elimination in the first round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The specialist said that the army team failed to show the level required for the playoffs of the tournament. “The guys returned to the game, but missed an unnecessary goal in two seconds. The guys didn’t play the way they should have. We made a mistake that cost us a goal,” Fedorov said.
Earlier on March 8, CSKA lost to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the fifth match of the Gagarin Cup playoff series with a score of 3:6. The team was eliminated from the Gagarin Cup, losing the series with a score of 1-4. Lokomotiv’s opponent for the quarter finals of the tournament will be determined later.
CSKA was the current winner of the Gagarin Cup. In the 2022/2023 season, the team won the trophy for the third time. The capital club defeated Kazan Ak Bars in a series of up to four wins with a score of 4:3. Previously, the army team won the KHL in the 2018/2019 and 2021/2022 seasons.
