Technical delegate of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Igor Belomestnov revealed the details of the mass collapse of skiers at the Winter Spartakiad. His words are quoted by TASS.

Belomestnov said that the weather conditions on the ski slope in Sochi did not contradict the competition regulations. He emphasized that most of the athletes received bruises, but the exact number of victims is still unknown. “Two athletes were seriously injured: one had a fractured forearm, the other had a head injury,” the organizer added.

Earlier, journalist Dmitry Guberniev criticized the organizers of the competition. He called the employees of the Ministry of Sports and the head of the FLGR Elena Vyalbe criminals.

The incident occurred earlier on Friday, March 8. The head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Vyalbe, said that two girls were hospitalized. According to Telegram channel 112, the number of victims has increased to 18. The competition is taking place in the village of Estosadok (Krasnodar Territory).
