Toronto forward Bertuzzi called Russian goalkeeper Samsonov a rock star
Canadian forward of the Toronto Maple Leafs Tyler Bertuzzi admired the performance of the club’s Russian goalkeeper Ilya Samsonov. His words are quoted on the website of the National Hockey League (NHL).
After the match with the Buffalo Sabers, Bertuzzi called Samsonov a rock star. “It’s good to see him doing his thing again and gaining confidence. He will be amazing in the future,” said the striker.
Toronto beat Buffalo in the regular season match with a score of 2:1. Samsonov stopped 24 shots on goal out of 25.
In January, the club, due to an unsuccessful start to the season, put Samsonov in the waiver draft, from where no one took him. The goalkeeper was sent to the farm club, and on January 10 he was returned to the main team.
In the current regular season, 27-year-old Samsonov played 29 matches in which he reflected an average of 88.5 percent of shots per game with a safety factor of 3.14 and two shutouts.
