Chaadaeva said that the attitude towards her in Spain has not changed since the start of the SVO
Former Russian freestyle skier Maria Chaadaeva, who lives in Spain, spoke about whether the attitude of local residents towards her changed after the start of the SVO in Ukraine. She spoke out in an interview with Lenta.ru.
According to the athlete, nothing has changed for the worse. “The Spaniards, on the contrary, were interested in whether everything was okay with us and offered help. They asked, for example, how we cope with the blocking of bank cards and transfer money to our homeland,” said Chaadaeva.

The Russian woman also admitted that she would return to live in Russia if there were no winter there. “I regularly travel to Russia in the summer, and I encounter all the traditional difficulties for people with disabilities, but it is not as difficult as in the winter. For example, I don’t feel the lower part of my body, so in winter I can get frostbite and not understand it right away. This is very dangerous,” she noted.
Chaadaeva is a silver medalist at the Freestyle Ski Cross World Cup. The athlete was supposed to compete at the 2014 Games in Sochi, but during training on the Olympic track, she suffered a spinal fracture as a result of a fall. The freestyler’s lower body was left paralyzed and she had to end her career.
