Tarasova doubted that figure skater Valieva would be able to perform in shows in China
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova spoke about the plans of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva to perform in a show in China. Her words are quoted by Sport Express.
Tarasova said she had a positive attitude towards this news. “But I doubt it will. I think that while she is under sanctions, we are unlikely to see her in foreign shows,” she noted.
On March 4, Valieva said that she would take part in an ice show in China and play the main role there. “The rest of the action will happen around me,” added the 17-year-old figure skater.
Earlier, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency assessed the legitimacy of Valieva’s participation in ice shows. In their opinion, if certain organizations are involved in the organizers of the show, a violation of the terms of disqualification may occur, which could lead to a doubling of the sanction period.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport disqualified Valieva for four years. The period of suspension is counted from the moment the sample is taken – December 25, 2021. She lost gold at the European Championships and the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games.
