The Biscayan cyclist Movistar Jon Barrenetxea has been located in tenth position overall10 seconds from Pithie.
De Kleijn has achieved a remarkable sprint, with which he has completed the good work of his team: “It is incredible to win in Paris-Nice, thanks to the work of the entire team, especially Matteo Trentin who threw me perfectly. It was my chance, and I took advantage of it,” said the winner, at the finish line.
It was a stage in which the peloton increased the pace noticeably in the final stretch, when the sprint aimed to decide the winner. The Tudor maneuvered at the front, looking for the best position for De Kleijn, after verifying that Olav Kooij, winner of the first day and leader of the race, had been lost.
Thus, this Tuesday comes one of the days that could mark the final fate of the general classification: a 26.9 kilometer team time trial in Auxerre, which will establish the first differences between the favorites. The particularity of this time trial will be that the time at the finish line will not be set by the fourth runner, as usually happens, but by the first of the team to cross the finish line.
