The Amsterdam prosecutor’s office refused to answer the question about Promes’ extradition
The Amsterdam prosecutor’s office spoke out about the situation with Spartak Moscow legionnaire Quincy Promes. Commentary from law enforcement agencies is provided by Match TV.
The Netherlands refused to answer the question about the footballer’s extradition. “Contact the Dubai authorities with a question about Promes’ house arrest. As for his possible extradition, we are not making any statements on this matter,” the message noted.
Earlier on March 4, it became known that Promes, who was released from custody on March 1, was placed under house arrest. On February 29, he was detained at border control at Dubai airport due to an accident that occurred in the UAE and leaving the scene of the accident.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. According to investigators, in 2019 the player was involved in transporting a large shipment of cocaine that belonged to Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. After the verdict was announced, the football player was put on the international wanted list.
