Kamensky said that Kuznetsov, who was put up for the draft waivers, will be welcome in the KHL
Olympic champion, Stanley Cup winner and three-time world champion Valery Kamensky spoke about the situation with the Russian Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, who was put up for the waiver draft. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Kamensky invited Kuznetsov to the Continental Hockey League (KHL). “Of course, if he has a desire, we will always welcome him in the KHL. You just need to survive such difficult periods in your career and gradually reach your level,” he said, emphasizing that in such moments you need to support the athlete and give him time.
Kuznetsov was put up for the waiver draft on March 2. On the same day, he completed the NHL Player Assistance Program, which he began a month earlier. The program works with hockey players suffering from psychological problems, as well as alcohol or drug addiction. In 2019, Kuznetsov was disqualified for using cocaine.
Kuznetsov has been playing for Washington since 2014. Together with the club, he won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
