Footballer Promes responded to his arrest in Dubai with an emoji meaning “lies”
Spartak Moscow forward Quincy Promes reacted on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) for detention in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Promes left a comment under theshaderoom account’s post about his arrest. The footballer reacted with one emoji: “blue cap,” which is slang for “lie.”
On February 29, the football player was detained at border control at Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai. The Dutchman was taken to the police station and was accompanied by red and white security officers. On March 1, he was released from custody.
On February 14, an Amsterdam court sentenced Promes in absentia to six years in prison. According to investigators, in 2019 the player was involved in transporting a large shipment of cocaine that belonged to Surinamese drug trafficker Piet Wartel. After the verdict was announced, the winger was put on the international wanted list.
