Journalist Karpov: Quincy Promes was detained in the UAE for fleeing the scene of an accident

Spartak footballer Quincy Promes was detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for fleeing the scene of an accident in the country. Journalist Ivan Karpov named a new reason for what happened in his Telegram channel.

According to the source, Promes’ side is now trying to resolve the issue, and the Dutch prosecutor’s office made an extradition request only after learning about the detention of the 32-year-old forward in Dubai. The SHOT Telegram channel notes that the trial in the footballer’s case in the UAE is scheduled for March 4. Promes could face up to three years in prison and extradition to the Netherlands.

Previously, Mash reported that Promes was detained due to a request from the Dutch side. On February 16, he was put on the international wanted list.

On February 29, the football player was detained at border control at Al Maktoum Airport in Dubai. The Dutchman was taken to the police station and was accompanied by red and white security officers. On February 14, Promes was sentenced at home to six years in prison for participation in drug smuggling. In the summer of 2023, he received 18 months in prison for attacking his cousin with a knife.
